Machnic Named MCL Player of the WeekCrestwood, Ill. – July 15, 2019 – For the second time in as many weeks, a Crestwood Panther will be taking home some weekly hardware. Mike Machnic (Kankakee Community College / Chicago, Ill.) has been selected as the MCL Player of the Week, joining Northwest Indiana Oilmen pitcher Jonathan Vesevick, who won MCL Pitcher of the Week. From the League Office: "Machnic had a great week at the plate, posting a .556 batting average while notching four RBIs on five hits. His two-RBI single in the first inning on Friday, July 12 helped the Panthers get ahead early in their 10-2 win over the Joliet Generals." On the season, Machnic is currently slashing an impressive .358/.435/.396, adding 11 RBIs and eight runs scored. As a midseason addition, Machnic has been a driving force behind the Panthers' recent string of success, while functioning as a centerpiece in the Crestwood starting lineup. The Panthers will back in action on Tuesday night from Joliet Junior College, as they take on the Joliet Generals. Coverage begins at 5 p.m. with Sam Oppenheim and Jon Zaghloul on the Generals Broadcast Network, available via Facebook Live.
