On Tuesday, Northern League staff arrived to the Highland High School to find that the facility did not have power. With no other option, the Panthers and Vikings both decided to play a five-inning game and try to finish before the sun went down. The Panthers luckily finished the game just in time on a walk-off single.

Hammond started strong in the first. A single followed by an error put them on the board and another single would put them two runs ahead. They continued to pull away from Indiana in the third with an RBI ground out after reaching on an error.

The Panthers found their fire in the bottom of the third. Jake Ulbert led off by getting hit by a pitch. Jaylun Camper put a line drive into left field to advance Ulbert. A single from Arnoldo Velazquez would load the bases for Danny Puplava who hit a perfect double to score two runs and put the Panthers on the board. A ground out from Vinnie Marvucic would score Velazquez and tie the game at three.

Back-to-back errors from the Panthers in the field would give the Vikings a run in the fourth. A bunted single would score another and put Hammond up 5-3.

The Paws came right back in the bottom of the fourth, starting with a single from Filip Milatovic. Ulbert put a beautiful fly ball off the wall in right field to put two runners in scoring position. Camper took his opportunity for an RBI and hit a rope to right field to score both runners. The game was tied going into the fifth and final inning.

With Indiana fans on the edge of their seat, the Panthers gave them a show to end the game. Danny Puplava singled on a ground ball to left to lead off. Vinnie Marvucic and Peyton Robinson walked the bases loaded to give Korbin Lawson the perfect opportunity with no outs. Lawson put a very hard line drive directly into the glove of the first baseman who caught Robinson away from the bag to turn a double play. Milatovic, with two outs and in need of a hit to win the game, hit a perfectly placed ground ball into the right field gap to put the Panthers in the win column after a very close game.

Filip had a lot to say about the walk-off hit: "I've been struggling a little bit this summer and kind of getting a bit unlucky, but I think these past couple weeks I've put some good swings on ball. I just needed a little bit of luck and I guess today was the day to do it."

Anthony Scanlon took his second win on the bump for Indiana pitching all five innings. He struck out four batters and did not give up a single earned run to bring his ERA to 1.225.

Jake Ulbert played his first game with the Panthers after recovering from a bad wrist injury. He was very happy to get a big hit to help the team on his first day. Head Coach Sean Pierce had good things to say as well about his performance: "He made a mistake in the field, but when you hit a double down the line, I tend to forget that mistake."

Errors have been a big problem for Indiana so far this year, and this game was no different. The difference in this instance was the amount of hitting that made up for it. Coach Pierce was just happy to get a win. "We hit well with runners in scoring position today and that's something we haven't really been good at recently... We got punched in the mouth right away and we all knew it was going to be a shorter game because we didn't have any sunlight, but I thought they were jacked up for it. They didn't have any down time because they knew we had to go right away.

The Panthers face the Oilmen in Whiting on Thursday and Friday. First pitch on Thursday is set for 7:10.
