Miracle shut out Panthers with one pitcher

In what can only be described as a sad game, the Elkhart County Miracle blasted away the Indiana Panthers after a long seventh inning on Saturday. Final score in Elkhart was 6-0.

Luke Fassoth started on the mound for the boys in blue, pitching six complete innings and striking out eight. Both runs that he gave up were unearned bringing his ERA to 3.1. After the game, Fassoth said he was quite surprised with his performance. "It felt good. I was a little nervous before coming in here since I started against them last week, so I thought they were going to be on me. Pitches felt good. Bats were a little quiet today but I can't complain." The man in charge, Sean Pierce, had more great things to say about Luke as well.

Elkhart County's pitcher, Garcia, pitched a complete game against Indiana, striking out eight and only walking four. The Panthers left eight on base, which could be considered the soul reason the game went so poorly. Sean Pierce gave Garcia some props but had a lot to say about adjusting to pitch velocity. "He's a pretty good pitcher, but we just didn't make an adjustment the whole game. He's a harder thrower and we were just satisfied with being late.

The Panthers look to shake off the poor hitting on Sunday as they host the Griffith Generals for the first time this season. Pierce looks forward to seeing what the team can pull together. I know pitching is gonna be back and locked in for tomorrow. Defense has been amazing since our first handful of games so hopefully the bats come alive and we should be alright.

First pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Highland High School. The projected starting pitcher is currently Gino Gazzillo with a 6.87 ERA.
