Jaden Jones is this week's Northern League Pitcher of the Week07/01/2024 12:44 PM - This Monday, members of the Northern League office voted for one player and one pitcher for players of the week. By a large majority vote, Jaden Jones took Pitcher of the Week. Jones pitched against the Generals last Monday and took the win on the mound after seven innings. In his seven innings on the mound, the Emory and Henry student only gave up two hits and one walk, striking out seven. Five of his innings, Griffith was put down in three at-bats. The first inning of the game, the Generals were put down in just five pitches. Jones played a large part in the Panthers' victory. After his performance on the mound, Jones mentioned feeling like every pitch was coming through. "All the stuff was working. I felt like I got a good start today." He also said that the early lead Indiana took in the game was very helpful to his mindset on the bump. Head Coach Sean Pierce had a lot to say after the game about how well the Chicago native was on the mound: "[His performance] was fantastic. He did a really good job. He's been a bulldog for us. His two outings he's had, he's been nothing but great." He also said that Jaden should be considered for the Northern League All-Star game later this month. Coach Pierce had one simple thing to say when told that Jones took Pitcher of the Week: "Let's go!" It is not known when Jaden Jones will be back on the bump for the Claws, but it will definitely be a great game and a performance worthy of watching. |
