On Monday, the Indiana Panthers put together all of the things they learned in the first eleven games to finally take their second win this season. Two consecutive big innings for the boys in blue was too much to handle for the Griffith Generals, as well as the man on the mound, Jaden Jones.

Batters went quick in the first two innings, leading fans to believe this game would be quick. The top of the third inning said otherwise. Justin Johnson and Arnoldo Velazquez walked to start the third. Luke Fassoth drove Johnson home on a big double to left field to take the first run. Dom Owens hit a ground ball to the first baseman who couldn't throw out Velazquez at the plate in time. Peyton Robinson continued with an RBI knock to center. Panthers had a strong 3-0 lead after three innings.

The top of the third had much of the same, starting with Jack Salzeider reaching on an error. Korbin Lawson would be the base runner behind him after a line drive single to center field. Justin Johnson put a knock into center as well to bring home Salzeider. Arnoldo Velazquez hit the pitcher with a ground ball that forced a play at first to drive Lawson home and take a 5-0 lead. Luke Fassoth took his second RBI of the game with a hard ground ball to center for the Panthers' sixth run.

Griffith put one on the board in the fifth with a sac fly, and an error in the sixth game them another. Final score was 6-2.

Jaden Jones pitched seven innings in his start, only giving up two hits and striking out seven. His electric start game him the win on the mound. Max Hoogeveen pitched the last two, not giving up a single hit and bringing his ERA under one.

Jones gave his team props in his postgame interview for giving him peace of mind in the later innings of his performance. "Having that lead that we got in the third inning was definitely helpful and gave me a nice cushion to work off of, and it didn't really matter when I had guys on base because I had that cushion."

The man in charge, Sean Pierce, was very impressed in Jones' performance as well. "He did a really good job. He's been a bulldog for us. His two outings he's had, he's been nothing but great." Pierce also was happy with the team overall, mentioning early hitting and and a sound defensive effort. As for the energy in the dugout: "Oh, they were happy. Elated. I mean, they definitely felt good. It was nice to get back in the left-hand column.

The Panthers will look to gain a winning streak on Tuesday against the Miracle in the team's second game on their home field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. and will be visible on Facebook Live.
