The Panthers found themselves in Elkhart for the first time this season to play the Miracle on Saturday. The bats were moving, but with runners in scoring position the team failed to get it done.

Elkhart County opened the scoring in the fifth with two singles, a triple, and a sac fly to take the lead 3-0.

The Panthers found their fire in the seventh with a RBI knock from Justin Johnson to cut the lead to two.

The Miracle put some insurance runs on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning with three singles and a double to take a 5-1 lead.

The top of the eighth looked good for the boys in blue. Luke Fassoth roped an RBI double off the wall to bring Dom Owens around and bring the score to 5-2. Alex Contreras decided to trade places with Fassoth in his at bat with a double as well. Elkhart County's lead was cut 5-3.

The Miracle continued their stride in the bottom of the eighth, as they put up another run from a single, two walks, and a sac fly. They took the lead 6-3 and kept it all the way to the end.

Gino Gazzillo started on the mound for the Panthers, pitching 6.1 innings with three Ks, 10 hits, and five runs. Gazzillo took the loss on the mound for Indiana. Colin Early followed him with 1.2 innings, giving up one run and two hits.

Luke Fassoth found his footing as a position player for the Panthers putting up two doubles, both roped off the left wall, and fielding a perfect 1.000 at second base. When asked how his two hits felt he responded, "It felt good. I felt no vibration in my hands. My first one, I thought it was gone. I heard three people say "see ya ball" and on my way to first base I was jogging."

The Panthers face the Oilmen on Sunday and look to halt the franchise record they have currently set in Whiting. Fassoth will be starting on the mound for the Father's Day game. He hopes the mindset has changed in his team going into the game. "I think we should think less of trying to get a win. Our team is definitely talented. I feel like we need to go out there and play small ball.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at home and will be able to be watched on all NWI Oilmen platforms.
