Highland, IN- It has been a successful week for Hunter Niksch and his team. A six game winning streak and the first playoff appearance clinched since 2021 was topped off with a Northern League Pitcher of the Week.
Hunter Niksch continued his spectacular campaign with possibly his best start of the season Sunday, July 30 against the Northwest Indiana Oilmen. Niksch pitched a complete game shutout in the biggest game of the year to officially clinch the Panthers a playoff berth.
“Winning pitcher of the week means so much, especially heading into the playoffs.”
The game only lasted seven innings, but Niksch cruised through the contest and struck out an impressive eight batters. Niksch only allowed four hits in the game. One in the first, one in the second, one in the third, and one in the fifth. The Oilmen only got to third base twice.
Niksch continued to prove to be one of the aces on this team and now has an unanimous Northern League Pitcher of the Week to his all star resume.
“This award proves how much work I have been putting in and it feels great to be recognized in that way.”
Niksch will certainly have some more appearances in the Panthers now guaranteed extended season. Niksch could very likely be the guy Deandre Gilmore gives the ball to in the first game of the playoffs.
