A Big Fourth Inning Gives the Southland Vikings the Win Over the Panthers in Seven Innings06/05/2023 12:05 AM - The Panthers were given the task to immediately run it back with the Vikings Saturday, June 3 after the 9-7 win in the suspended game. The Panthers trotted out the same lineup and looked for win number two on the season. Things started well for the Panthers as they picked up two runs in the third. Horacio Cobrales Jr. drove in Joshua Williams with an RBI single and with two outs, Hunter Hryck reached on an error and Jonny Crowell was able to score. Fresh off a save, Brendon Meyers was cruising into the top of the third. That inning was a messy one for the Panthers, as they allowed four runs on only three hits. They allowed a surprising three stolen bases and committed two errors in the inning. The stolen bases have been a problem for the Panthers all year as they have allowed 14 successful ones all year. However, Deandre Gilmore is confident these players will learn from it and figure it out all-around. “They'll fix it themselves on their own, there’s nothing the coaches can do. I want everyone to play and to get better.” There’s not much to say after that, as that eventually was the final score. The Panthers offense struggled as they only collected four hits all game. They made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh as Daniel Gay was up to bat with the bases loaded and two outs. Gay grounded out to third to end the game. Jaden Jones was terrific out of the bullpen as he went four scoreless innings. Jones struck out four and did not walk anyone. He only allowed one hit as the Vikings had five hits on the day
