The Crestwood Panthers dropped to 9-10 on the season with their loss to the Joliet Generals on Thursday.

The Panthers fell behind early by giving up six runs in the first two innings, and they never led. The final score was 13-7.

The Panthers offense enjoyed a decent day despite the loss. Jimmy Gurgone and Charlie Schau each enjoyed three hit days. Both added one RBI as well with Gurgone having an RBI single in the second and Schau having an RBI single in the third.

Four other Panthers added RBIs on the day including Maurey Garrett, Peter Fusek (His league leading 18th), Aydin Wright and Ray Hilbrich. Head coach D’Vante Glenn liked the offensive performance on this night.

“It gives the guys a lot of confidence.” Glenn said, “We have to be able to execute, especially with runners in scoring position, and that’s what we are going to focus on.”

Erik Carlson got the start for the Panthers going five innings giving up nine runs on 13 hits. Charlie Schau pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen before Sean Conroy relieved him pitching two innings giving up two earned runs.

“Charlie and Sean came in and gave us a fighting chance.” Glenn said.

The Panthers play next against the Chicago American Giants on Friday at 7 p.m. at the KROC Center. The Panthers are 3-1 against the Giants this season.

“Whatever game is in front of us is a great opportunity.” Glenn said.
