Panthers McIntyre Selected In MLB DraftCrestwood, Ill. – July 13, 2021 – On the final day of the 2021 MLB Draft, current Panthers outfielder Donovan McIntyre (Kent State / Richton Park, Ill.) received the call of a lifetime. In round 11, pick number 326 overall, McIntyre was selected by the San Francisco Giants. Leading up to the draft, he had also received intense interest from the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, and took part in a number of pro workouts across the country. Through three games with the Panthers, McIntyre has posted a .250 batting average to go along with two runs scored and one walk. Before joining Crestwood, McIntyre was ranked as a top-500 national player by Perfect Game, plus earned Preseason All-American honors in 2021. McIntyre joins a list of three other 2021 draft picks who played baseball in the Midwest Collegiate League. Chad Patrick, formerly of the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, was selected in the fourth round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Matt Litwicki, a current Oilmen player, was taken in the 10th round by the Boston Red Sox. And, former DuPage County Hounds pitcher Malik Binns was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in round 18. |
