Panthers slip late and fall to NWI06/09/2024 5:33 PM - After a last minute change of venue, the Panthers and Oilmen faced off in a single game instead of the scheduled double header. After nine eventful innings, Indiana fell short and took a loss by a score of 20-16. The Panthers had a lead up until the fifth inning where they gave up four, making the score 8-6 in favor of the Oilmen. NWI held onto their lead until the seventh where Indiana had a six-run rally to tie the game at 12. Unfortunately, The Oilmen put eight more on the board and the Panthers could not come back a second time. Anthony Scanlon had his second start on the mound and giving six innings of work. He gave up 11 hits and 10 runs. Only three of those runs were earned. Gino Gazzillo followed with only one inning. Michael Pustelnik pitched two innings and ultimately took the loss on the mound. Panthers are a big hitting team and have proven themselves against any pitcher they have faced, but are struggling to capitalize defensively. They will try and minimize the errors against the Oilmen once more on Tuesday at Oil City Stadium at 11 a.m. |
