Hilbrich and White Named to 2020 All-MCL TeamCrestwood, Ill. – August 17, 2020 – The Crestwood Panthers’ historic 2020 season has come to an end, and two of the team’s biggest stars down the stretch have been recognized as league-wide standouts. Both Ray Hilbrich (Purdue University-Northwest / Schererville, Ind.) and Dylan White (University of Chicago / Danville, Calif.) were named to the 2020 All-MCL team on Monday, joining 11 other players across the league in receiving the honor. Hilbrich, who was also named MVP of the league, garnered a unanimous vote onto the team, as his .356/.452/.587 slash line immediately sealed the deal on his candidacy. Hilbrich also posted three home runs, 21 runs scored, 23 RBIs, and 15 doubles, the latter two of which set single-season franchise records. In addition, Hilbrich paced all qualifying hitters in doubles, batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS. This marks Hilbrich’s second-consecutive All-MCL selection and first-ever unanimous distinction. In White’s case, he did not make his season debut until July 15th, yet turned in four impressive outings on the mound en route to the award. In 17 total innings, White pitched to a team-best 1.59 ERA, while striking out 17 hitters in the process. His performance on August 11th against the MCL Minutemen truly pushed his candidacy over the top, as he pitched six scoreless innings in relief, and thus gave the Panthers an opportunity to keep their playoff hopes alive. Hilbrich and White’s selections add to an already busy awards season for Crestwood, as manager Isaac Valdez was named Manager of the Year, and Hilbrich, as previously mentioned, earned MCL MVP honors. The consistent league-wide recognition comes after the Panthers won 17 games and finished just three games away from their first-ever postseason berth. |
